Historical Discussion at Bounti Fare

It was my honor to moderate a historical discussion by Paul W. Marino, North Adams Historian, and Eugene Michalenko, Adams Historian, about the division of Adams and North Adams at the Bounti Fare Restaurant on Wednesday night. Bounti Fare is right on the dividing line where Adams and North Adams meet, and a perfect place for us to discuss the histories of these communities.

Paul and Eugene talked at length about the many things Adams and North Adams have in common, for instance, the abundant water power the Hoosac river provided early farming and industry in both settlements, as well as the many things which make them unique, including the differing immigrant and religious groups who settled in north and south Adams, and the Hoosac Tunnel which allowed explosive growth in North Adams after it’s completion.

Afterward we had a great spaghetti dinner and enjoyed the famous all you can eat salad bar. Thanks to everyone who turned out. We’d like to give a special thanks to Dave Nicholas, owner of Bounti Fare, for allowing us to use his meeting room.
